Treasures of Time
Diana Emkjer has been collecting antiques for as long as she can remember including clocks that didn't work. Her husband Joe began fixing those clocks as a hobby even though he was an engineer in the aerospace industry.
Joe had become friends with a man from Germany and acquired from him a lifetime of knowledge about the workings of clocks. In Germany, "horology" (the study of clocks) is a highly respected job and an apprenticeship lasts four years. In just two years, his friend taught Joe everything he knew about repairing and restoring antique clocks and gave him tools that were over 50 years old.
In 1993, Joe and Diana Emkjer opened Treasures of Time on Main Street near Abby's Grill. They are now located in the Broadwalk Building on Broad Street. Joe retired from his job and began repairing and restoring both old and new clocks on a full time basis. Diana handles the purchasing, sales and bookkeeping for
Treasures of Time.
Joe became certified in Horology through the National Association of Clockmakers and his workmanship is guaranteed. They also sell antique clocks such as Tambours, Two Weight Clocks, Schoolhouse Clocks, French Clocks and even Ships Clocks.
If you have an old clock to be repaired, bring it to Joe. If you want to buy an unusual gift, talk to Diana. The clocks in this shop are certainly Treasures of Time.
