Action Printing
Action Printing, Inc., a small family business, has quietly been printing downtown Spartanburg for over 35
years, in the same location at 140 Henry Street since 1973.
Founded as a quick printer (when there were none), committed to competitive pricing and outstanding customer service, Action has grown into a commercial printer offering an array of products and services. Despite Action's growth, their commitment to value and service has never waivered.
For close to 30 years, mother and father, Charles and Mildred, and son, Scot, worked tirelessly managing the company. Mildred and Scot did very well for themselves but admit they needed to revaluate Action's position for the future. In 2000, they choose to take a more back seat role and hire their grandson and nephew, Shane.
Shane Pruitt, joined the family business after graduating from Montreat College, located near Asheville, North Carolina. Shane brought with him a wealth of computer graphic skills, an increased understanding of what customers want,
a hard work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. In the eight years since, Action Printing has doubled its annual revenue and has increased its investment in technology, product additions and design/pre-press staff. SCC graduates Lauren Crain (05) and Bo Lim (06) joined Action and are doing a great job!
In 2007, Action Printing was named a Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce Economic Champion due to its purchase of a high end digital color machine. This year Action plans to add another high-end digital monochrome machine to speed up production which will result in shorter turnaround times and more competitive short run pricing and has already added an envelope feeder to its equipment list to speed up production of envelopes as well.
"The future is looking bright for us", states Shane. "We are aligned with the efforts of Creative Energy Spartanburg's Downtown Masterplan. We feel we are in a great location. We do need more room, but we love our little print shop. It is paid for and helps us keep our overhead down. We could not be more pleased with the City's progress and commitment to the future. Action Printing will be a
part of the City's Arts District economic future for a long time. Our families are here and we love it here. We are
invested in the local purchasing power of Downtown Spartanburg. We could not ask for better customers or a better town in which to live."
